Art is more than just art. When placed in front of the right viewer within the right context, it can be a powerful tool for healing and comfort. It can turn a cold, sterile hospital into a warm therapeutic setting, or a bare home into a warm sanctuary. I am constantly inspired by God’s creation all around me in nature, and am humbled that such a dynamic, kind Creator would lovingly surround us with such beauty.
My current media of choice is a combination of watercolor strokes, photography and digital techniques, with the end result being an expressive, emotional effect.
My passion for artistic expression in various forms developed deep within me as a child when simple pencil and paper were my materials of choice. Years later, I was able to further refine my skills by getting a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Michigan, where I gained experience with traditional watercolor, various paints, photography, and digital art. I love every moment of my creative journey.
I am currently taking art product licensing opportunities. Also, feel free to contact me about a personal portrait commission.
Evidence Based Design (EBD): Its role in my art
Using art as a medium to ensure positive outcomes in various healthcare settings is one of the most worthwhile applications of creativity. It aligns with my passion for art as a child when I had the simple thought, “I want people to look at my art and feel good!” Fast forward to today, and EBD is the perfect fit for me. It’s an extremely useful set of guidelines for the creation of tasteful art in order to help as many people as possible within the healthcare and hospitality settings.
Fun Facts About Me:
- I have Synesthesia. People who have this neurological condition are commonly called synesthetes. It’s not known for sure how many people have it, but it’s thought to occur in 1 to 4% of the population. Interestingly, if you’re a synesthete, they say you’re more likely to be female and left-handed. I’m both, ha!
- I’m not sure which I enjoy more, art or physical exertion. Perhaps that’s why I most enjoy being out in nature when taking photos to combine with my brush strokes.
- I consider the woods my office.
- I enjoy my salmon cooked, but I like it better raw (sushi).
- And of course, I have a caffeine addiction. You knew that was coming.
