A piece in progress. Or is it done? It’s funny how sometimes inspiration overflows and spills out of my digital paintbrush, while other times I’m battling against inertia so heavy I can barely choose what colors to use. I started this digital watercolor piece a handful of days ago, and have had fun challenging myself to adding to it, bit by bit. It’s especially fun bringing out the wet texture of the roses, while the green leaves were unexpectedly exhilarating. At this point, I”m in the process of lightly cleaning it up a bit, but I have to constantly remind myself it doesn’t have to be perfect. The imperfections of the expressive brushstrokes are what give it its unique character, after all.
I can see this used for various applications, but especially as a greeting card down the line, with a simple thank you or birthday sentiment added to it. And since I tend to work in copious amounts of layers, the colors of the individual elements can be selectively adjusted and tweaked as necessary.
